There was a point in time where if I saw an item on my trade panel, there was a very high chance I'd be able to buy it. That means that a lot of the good stuff is hidden behind boring stuff. So they advertise something else that will usually take longer to sell. I'd say at least some of this comes from the fact that people learn really quickly that when they have multiple items, advertising the item most in demand quickly strips you of your advertising, as once the item is gone, you won't be seen on the GTHQ anymore. Easier to get storage pieces, but even then most of those have come from going to a city advertising something else. going into a city advertising something else and finding one there). I would say that probably 95% of the expansion materials I have bought off the GTHQ have been unadvertised items (i.e. Have the devs indicated they're going to do anything to change the way the Trade HQ works? Is there a search function or something like that on the horizon, or are we at the mercy of a random system for the long haul?Īlso, I make sure I always click on the dialog bubbles, and I always address the sale bubbles so they go away, so I am trying to "traditional" way of getting just doesn't seem to be working. If I'm competing against people with an unfair advantage, I'm not sure what I can do. But i t certainly looks like something funky is going on with some players who may have figured out exploits. Maybe there's a perfectly good explanation for stuff like that, maybe not. What's up with the cheating? I've seen some really odd stuff, like one guy who had 400k+ Sims in a city with about six buildings. Is this true? Can I do ANYTHING to increase my chances of getting an item before someone else grabs it? The only thing I can think of is that people with the newest devices with the fastest processors are loading cities much more quickly than others, and that's how they do it. No matter how fast I react, someone is there before me. Is that really what everyone is doing?Īre people on slower devices like Nexus 7 just screwed? I can't tell you how many times I've traveled to another city to get an item only to find it's already gone. Is there any honest way to get expansion items? I've heard of people gaming the system, and even read about one guy who went out and bought a new iPad so he could have another city to farm mats and sell them to his other city. I'm having no luck, and I've been stuck for about two weeks now trying to get enough Dozer Blades. I've tried randomly jumping through cities in the hopes of getting lucky and finding unadvertised expansion items. I've refreshed the Trade HQ and visited other cities literally thousands of times. The problem? I've used up every inch of real estate, and I can't expand because I don't have enough expansion materials. I've done all that without spending a dime of IRL. I'm at level 32, with 355,000+ Sims, a 100% approval rating, and education & entertainment buildings covering the whole map. Like a lot of other people, I'm having a incredibly frustrating time trying to expand my city.
